The Counseling Ministry is comprised of a group of lay counselors whose mission is to encourage and give spiritual guidance to individuals in order to help them understand their strengths, identify areas for growth, increase their awareness about personal options and empower them to make healthy decisions based on the Word of God. There are several areas of the ministry that participants may get involved in: |
Addiction Recovery
Counseling—Addictive behaviors and the effects they have on loved ones are addressed in a group setting and a compassionate and caring atmosphere on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 p.m.—7 p.m. in the Shiloh Baptist Church Christian Education Center. |
Financial
Counseling—Workshops and seminars are conducted on budgeting, financial planning, home buying and debt elimination. Participants have an opportunity to make an appointment for an individual assessment for financial hardship assistance and direction. A confidential application is required to be considered for financial assistance. |
Career & Vocational
Counseling—Individuals may receive assistance in career assessments, job location, marketable skills training and work ethics training. |
Marital
Counseling—Marriage and premarital counseling is offered so that participants can gain a greater insight into a satisfying, Christ-centered marriage. |
Grief & Loss
Counseling—In a group setting, those that are experiencing loss through divorce, death or other painful family transitions are able to grieve in a confidential and safe environment that promotes healing and growth. |
